Since the economic downturn in 2008, the federal government has granted states a waiver for the work requirement for food-assistance recipients who are able-bodies adults without dependents (ABAWDs).

Although Ohio qualifies for the federal waiver through 2014, Governor Kasich has opted not to renew it, despite the fact that unemployment and job availability in Ohio are among the lowest in the nation.

The Summit County Department of Job and Family Services asks that questions or concerns about the ABAWD work requirement or the governor's decision to not renew the federal waiver be directed to state officials and congressional representatives.

The attached flyer contains contact information for state officials and congressional representatives for Summit County.
