Summer Youth Employment Program registration underway

Youths between the ages of 16 – 23 as of June 1, 2023 may qualify for summer jobs offered by County Executive Shapiro’s Department of Job and Family Services, in partnership with Tri-County Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates. All INTERESTED MUST APPLY ONLINE (click on Apply Now button below) for a first-come, first-served chance to participate. A parent or guardian is required to apply on behalf of minor children.

Participants in the program will gain real-world work experience, paying $15 per hour, up to 20 hours per week, for eight weeks. Work site placement will be determined to mitigate transportation as a barrier. Families are encouraged to apply online as soon as possible, as opportunities are extremely limited.

Who Can Apply?

  • Youth participants must be Summit County residents aged 16 – 23 as of June 1, 2023.
  • Parent/guardian must apply on behalf of minor children.
  • Applicant household must meet TANF minor child requirement.
  • Household income may not exceed 200% of the federal poverty level. (EX.: a family size of 4 may not exceed $5,000 gross monthly income).

After completing the online application, families will be notified via U.S. mail, telephone and/or email of their eligibility status. Youths must attend a pre-employment orientation before summer work may begin. Due to limited funding and eligibility criteria, there is no guarantee that all families that apply will have youths placed in the program. Placement will be completed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Summer work will begin on June 5, 2023 and will conclude July 29, 2023. Bus passes will be provided to those in need of transportation assistance.
